Into Me You See

Writer's picture: NBRNBR

I first heard intimacy described this way, “Into Me You See” at a Challenge Day training. It was the most liberating framing I have ever experienced.

Many people want to have close relationships of many kinds without intimacy. I often experience men who want me, and even recognize my strengths but aren't socialized to see me as a collaborative partner. I pray that these men discover something more than a caveman existence.

For me, intimacy is an exchange, and it is not usually a romantic endeavor. Intimacy is what makes romance possible but it is the organic way we are as humans, with or without romance. The deepest and most horrific thing that has happened to us in this western system of existence and being is we have been distanced from our humanity, therefore the humanity of others.

We don’t seem to value having and providing the space to embrace and heal our flaws.

How can you be whole without embracing your humanity? What do you think you are offering another if you keep the walls up?

I pray that more of us learn to honor the past and the ways we survived, and burn that ship if it is too toxic to return. Maybe in doing so you will gather the strength to build a new one when the time is right…
