#RaisedByLove

I am excited about this little passion project I started with my great friend Dayna! I needed something light and hopeful in the midst of my other work. I am so honored that she asked me if I wanted to help with it!

We've created a Facebook group for those who want to gather there, but please do use the hashtag anywhere that you post on social media, and share it in the group as well.

A few days ago, she shared about the thoughts she had about parenting and equity. It was wonderful that we were both inspired to reflect on parenting on the same day!

This is her wonderful challenge:

I have been thinking a lot about parenting and equity. As a mom, I am constantly thinking about how to make mindful moments and how to work with my children to make the world better. We know that trauma is ubiquitous. Scientific evidence documents that the greatest way to build resilience in families is through creating safe, stable and nurturing relationships and environments. In an effort to heal, I was thinking of starting a campaign with all of you called #RaisedByLove.

The goal is to support our children to be creative, to build confidence and community and to teach parents/caregivers and children that they can be the good in the world while having fun through simple acts.

1. Spend time with the young people in your life.

2. Make something homemade and/or homegrown.

ie. Pick plums, grow tomatoes, make cookies, draw a picture, or write a poem.

3. Share your homemade and/or grown creations with your neighbors freely.

ie. Share a drawing, baked good, or freshly picked flowers.

These activities can be done daily, weekly or monthly, that is entirely up to you. Let your child’s innovative spirit flourish. And yours will too. As your child grows, let them and your community know that they are #RaisedByLove.

Please share any of the following:

. how the challenge made you feel,

. how the experience impacted your young person,

. how this may have changed your relationship,

. what you did

And use the hashtag #RaisedbyLove when you post it here and anywhere on your social media!

Friends, Moms, Dads, Aunties, Uncles and Grandparents: What do you all think? Are you up for the challenge? #RaisedByLove.
