What is Racism?

Racism is commonly defined as "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized; the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another." Thirty or more years ago I read Dr. Neely Fuller's "The United Independent Compensatory Code/System/Concept - A Compensatory Counter Racist Code. I have never had to read another book on racism and I define it the way he did. It has served me well. I don't hate anyone and I am effective in identifying it and facing it. I have shared the story of how I came into this work in many places over the years. I hope to complete a memoir of my journey in "wokeness" and where I am about it today. One of the things I remember saying in college is that "I am not a walking encyclopedia on Black people for White people". I imagine that I was expressing the bridge I felt that I was as an immigrant's daughter who was raised in the suburbs mostly around evangelicals. I don't only speak and facilitate on this subject, I have on several, but this one seems to be the main one and the one who's time has come once again.
